Male Lowland Gorilla, African Rain Forest Exhibit.
This is the Leslie Street Spit, which is a construction-waste landfill jutting into lake Ontario, and was taken while I was out with my club. My fellow photographers were mostly on the Toronto-side shoreline, with its trees and birds, while I went to the far side with its cleared ground and No Trespassing signs.
I love it when everything in a photo points to one place, and it's even better when there's something there.
When it snows maintenance crews scatter rock salt on the stairs leading down to Spadina subway station. People walking through have worn a path with the meltwater.
This photo combines some of my very favourite elements. Strict geometry, strong lines, and a very wide angle lens.
